Bonsai is a great interest, hobby or even profession to undertake. Although famous theologians have claimed that it is actually 90% art to a meager 10% of horticulture, it has to be said that a successful bonsai is most definitely a horticultural masterpiece.
I’ve always loved bonsai trees, but they’re impossible to find here in Arkansas. I did find a very cool bonsai store that sells online though, they even have some bonsai trees for under $30. The site is Bonsai Boy of New York. I also think this would make a great gift to someone with a green thumb, especially a Christmas gift. If you want to give someone a plant at Christmas, why go with the same old boring Poinsettia? Give them something they can appreciate all year round.
After visiting Bonsai Boy of New York, I was surprised to see that there are so many varieties of bonsai. Go have a look around, you may be pleasantly surprised too. I especially liked the “One of a Kind” section at this site. By the way, my birthday is March 31. hehe.

LOL! Well I must admit I’ve always found them fascinating too. But I thought they were quite expensive, so, I guess not!
Yeah me too! Well actually there are some very expensive ones, but the “Under $30″ page is great.
They should give free videos of the Karate Kid with each sale.
I’ve had several bonsais and they can be tricky to keep alive. There used to be a really nice nursery on Hwy. 41 between Inverness and Tampa in Florida that specialized in bonsais- all designed in a Japanese garden theme. You can download a color copy of the Florida Bonsai Magazine here-> Magazine
How long does it take to grow them? Can you get them as seeds?
Yes, you can get them as seeds. Bonsai Boy of New York sells them for about 3 bucks! Are you going to get me seeds for my birthday Rich? LOL
When’s your birthday?
Apparently Rich, you didn’t read the entire post.
Anyway, just kidding.
One of the largest bonzai nurseries in America is right outside Memphis on the South East side almost on the TN/MS boarder. It’s been a few years since I was there but it should not be two hard to find.
They even have some trees hundreds of years old and you can spend a fortune just for a rock, got smaller cheaper things and some fantastic bonzai azaleas
