for the first time since Summer started way back in March. We skipped Spring altogether this year, and went straight for hot, muggy, can’t-breathe-because-of-the-high-humidity Summer. The heat combined with the humidity was so bad this year, that all I could do was just wear as few clothes as possible (socks? forget it) and try not to go out.
AUTUMMMMMMMMN! It’s finally arrived, I think! It’s supposed to not get above 70 here today, and in Arkansas, that’s Autumn, lol. Last night, I went to bed with all the windows in the house open and 3 fans running, like I’ve done all summer. I woke up at 4 am JUST ABOUT TO FREEZE! The wind was howling and blowing hard through the windows, the COLD wind. I had nothing on the bed but sheets. I was wearing … what I usually wear to bed in the summer. I was shivering so hard I thought I was gonna shiver right off the bed. In Autumn here, it gets much colder at night than it does during the day. Even though I was freezing, I was SO happy that the longest summer I can remember was finally over.
Or is it really over? Because, you know you’re in Arkansas if you’ve ever turned on your heat and your air in the same day.

We cooled off some today here too and I’m sure that’s welcome in Houston. From past experience though I’d say November before we get good and cool. I can’t remember the last time the kids had to have a coat for Halloween.

I think we stayed in the 70’s on Friday, but summer came back yesterday and today here in NC. Well, without the unbearable humidity that we had all freaking summer long. It smells like Fall though.
