Not my little little girl, Sara, but my big little girl, Julie, who’s 20. Last night, her boyfriend Brandon called me to tell me that he’s going to join the military, not sure which branch yet. He also said that he wants to marry Julie before he does, and would that be ok with me? He was asking my permission! How old-fashioned and very cool is that? I asked him why he wanted to join the military, he said so that he could get a college education and all the military benefits and provide for Julie the way that she deserves to be provided for. HOWWWWWWWWWW could I ever say no to that?
Julie is a licensed body piercer, and while she makes great money, sometimes a few hundred a night, the job will never give her the benefits of being a military wife.
Question is, will she say yes?

Tell him Air Force. Aim High. Cross into the blue. Seriously though, I don’t just say that because I was Air Force. I went Air Force because my husband was Army, and wouldn’t let me join the Army. Having worked with other branches in a joint unit, I have some Navy “issues” too, so I don’t recommend them either. Don’t have anything against Marines, in fact I have a great deal of respect for the Marine Corps as they seem to continue a sense of honor that the other branches (Air Force included) have seemed to have lost to a certain extent by careerism. Not that I am bitter.
