NOTE: New posts below this one until BWBW begins.
Diane had a post on her site about quitting smoking, and in the comments I mentioned the idea of bloggers uniting for one week to quit smoking. Diane thought this was a scathingly brilliant idea, and so without further ado, we bring you….
BLOGGERS WITHOUT BUTTS WEEK, JANUARY 1 - 7, 2006.
The plan is to all post on our various blogs about what methods we’re using and offer each other moral support! Every day of that week we will post about our efforts and how it’s going for each of us. If you would like to be a part of this event please post your desire on your blog with an explanation to others about the event and trackback to DIANES POST with a link to her article (or this one) in your post. (Here’s the trackback link to that post). Diane and I will keep our posts on top throughout this month and for the week of the event. During the week we can trackback to one another also and let everyone in the blogosphere and each other know how we’re doing and hope that we may encourage others to join us in our fight against tobacco addiction.
Because of the date, you can also add it to your New Year’s Resolutions. This gives you an entire month to decide what your strategy will be in helping you to put down the evil weed. There are many good suggestions in the comments section of the Does This Make Me Look Cool post and I encourage you to read them. If you need to visit a doctor, GO. If you need to stock up on hard candy, DO IT. If you need to go buy some patches, BUY THEM. Just have your game plan ready before the 1st of January!

You mean my friends lied to me 20 years ago about me looking cool when I smoke? No way!
Seriously: I think one day I’ll be on my death bed having one last fag thinking I look like Hunphrey Bogart in one of his movies. That dude is responsible for a lot of people smoking, because he had the moves down and girls loved him. But then again … he died of cancer when he was in his 50s
Well, he DID look cool. I have to admit.
huh? You got me all confused with that tracking back stuff. So, we’re supposed to trackback to the trackback of the trackback?
LOL. Just go to dianes blog and trackback to the top post
Why didn’t you tell us you started a blog!
Because I’m shy???
I really think it’s great that you guys are supporting each other in this way! Makes me want to take up smoking just so I can participate. Food’s my vice. Have a dear friend who supported me the way you guys plan to. He even encouraged me to go to the gym with him 3 days a week, and I lost well over 30 pounds since May. Unfortunately, in the past month, we’ve both fallen back into bad habits, and I’ve gained a couple back. Hmmmmmm…guess you could consider that a kinda trackbacking, huh?
WOW 30 pounds is great! So you gained a couple back, big deal. OK now, I’m gonna add your blog to my links
Aha! Skye’s blogging! I’ll go add to my blogroll!
Bloggers Without Butts Week, January 1 - 7, 2006
For all you smokers and non-smokers out there, wanting to, trying to, or supporting someone who’s trying to quit smoking, a support network is being offered to you through some of our fellow bloggers. I’m Just a Girl and Dianes…
Bloggers Without Butts Week, January 1-7 2006
Mel and Diane have come up with a great idea for supporting smokers trying to quit. As a recovering smoker myself, I know just how hard it is to quit, and stay quit.

Give Up Smoking
Quit smoking, or you’re fired. That’s what Scotts Miracle-Gro is telling its employees. If they don’t quit smoking by October, they’ll lose their jobs. Workers who smoke can get free counseling, nicotine patches and classes on…

Best wishes for Mel from Boris
That’s very nice, Boris, thanks! Merry Christmas!
i don’t smoke… i feel so left out…
Start smoking for a week and join us, lol.
BTW, adding you to my links

OK, Mel. I’ll commit to not smoking at all during the BWBW.
Of course, that’s a weak pledge, since the only time I have smoked in the last 17 years… no, 18… has been when I found an old pouch of the tobacco I once smoked (nicely preserved but way, way too dry–rehydrated it carefully and… ) and smoked one pipeful this summer. Was pleasant, but threw away the rest of the tobacco…
So, does it count if I quit for BWBW?
(Pulling for everyone who is really quitting… for the first, second or–hopefully– last time.)
David, I love you like a… friend… but I would actually like you suffer along with me that week, really suffer, by giving up your beloved coffee for the entire week. hehe.
And skye, YOU have to give up men, give up flirting online even, for the week, lmao.
omggggggg, you’ve got to be kidding. And just when there’s a fine one stoking my fires. Okay, Okay, but only for a week. A girl can only go so long, you know.
