Bloggers without Butts Week starts tomorrow, so why am I starting early? I’m not cheating. I ran out of cigarettes about an hour ago and didn’t want to buy a new pack and have some left tomorrow. But about half an hour after I ran out, I went all over the house in a ridiculous frenzy looking for a cigarette, or HALF a cigarrette, even. I refused to ask my husband for one, because he would have said something like… “if you can quit, then you can do without one now.”
So, I’m staring right NOW. I just put on my first nicotene patch. Already eating candy too.
Note to anyone trying to quit: Wal-mart has the Equate brand nicotene patches for only 17 bucks. I use Equate brand everything, so why not the patches.
To anyone who says I’m being weak by using the patches and not having the will power to go cold-turkey, FU, lol. I’m not weak, I’m addicted to nicotene.
Man, This will be harder with another smoker in the house.

Quit.
To.
Live.
:)
Good on you!
Hello! I thought I would pop by and say “thanks” as I have chosen your theme for my new blog at The-Singers.com .. (didn’t you have some gorgeous showgirl legs a few days here?) Anyway, I used to smoke between 40-50 cigs a day but quit between Oct 27, 2001 and Nov 7, 2001, declining 3 per day until my last cigarette - then I did it cold turkey and never smoked ever again. But, I remember someone once told me that if you remember the day you quit - you really never quit, you just stopped - but I’m hopeful I won’t start again - it’s too costly.
Then - just on Friday Eve on Larry King I thought Anthony Robbins was on and make an interesting comment .. (paraphrasing) it was something about how strange it was for people who say they are going to quit in 10 days or or quit over time (like I did) … just so they can tell people that they quit - and making it seem like you did really well and ‘only’ took i.e. 10 days .. when, you should be concentrating on just the quitting part.
Food for thought. Oh - Wait a Minute - scratch that after all these holidays and celebrations - don’t think about food - Exercise if you feel like a cig - drop the candy
Good Luck!
Having another person smoking in the house is going to be real tough. Stick to your guns! Or should I say Patches….?
Thanks you guys!
Hart, wow so you weaned yourself off of them. I’ve tried that, it just didn’t work for me, but I’m glad it did for you. Thanks for the encouragement.
Mac, It’s already tough, last night while reading in bed, my husband lit up, and I wanted one instantly, but I just said in my mind “Ignore it ignore it.” and I was ok after a few minutes.
So how’s it going so far?
It’s good you’re doing this on the blog. Will give you even more incentive to kick the habit, what with all these people watching and everything. Sorta like that Big Fat Loser show on tv. Nice to have a cheering section too.
Keep at it, kiddo…you CAN do it!
Rah rah rah! Siskboom bah!
Let’s see how cheer-y you are tomorrow Diane! hehe
Im starting the patches next week…r the equate working for you…well i hope they are..i have two people that live with me and smoke..i tried to do the cold turkey thing..i went 13 hours without one…that was it..well but when im around people who dont smoke and i dont have any i dont even get a craving for a cig..sometimes i might even have one but i just dont think about smoking..well i hop u can quit…
They are working great! And depending on where you live, you may be able to get them mailed to your for free, which is what I’m doing now. Call 1-866-NOW-QUIT. Call them and ask them if they have a program to help you get the patches…
GOOD LUCK, come back and let me know how you’re doing!
i started them on the 5..Well this is day 4. im doing pretty good… i havnt really evne wanted one.. i chew a lot of gum..i have been eating a lot more to..do u pay for them or do u get them totally free…??? there kinda expensive but their worth it..at least its only a short time puchast instead of a life long purchase…when the people i live with smoke i think that it really stinks..and its only been 4 days since i was smoking…how long has it been since u have had one…??
oh..thanks for the #..
Dell, they are totally free. They mail me 14 patches at a time. The only kicker is, you have to talk to a “quit-smoking” counsellor once a week for 6 weeks, on the phone. Call them, it’s worth it! You seem to be doing great. It’s been 3 months for me. 4 days is great though, if you can do that, you can do it for longer! My husband smokes, also.
Thanks…i will call them..its worth it..do they just ask u questions..or what..wow 3 months..ur doin good..most people dont think i can quit, but i know i can cause i REALLY want to…thanks again..for the info…
Well Dell… that’s the key right there, you REALLY want to, you will do it! The stamp-out-smoking counselor will call you once a week for six weeks, for 30 mins at a time, at your convenience… you’ll have the same person each week. They ask you questions like how many cravings are you having, how you feel about this and that, such as the others smoking in your house, they’ll also give you great tips and tricks to help you quit, so actually it really helps you to have these 6 phonecalls. They’ll also send you some cinnamon toothpicks (YUM) which have helped me a lot, to have when I want a cig. I told my counselor that I really liked them, and she immediately sent me three more packs of them. Anyway, make the call, you won’t regret it! COme back and let me know how you’re doing.
well..i dont htink that i really need the patches…today is day 10..and for the last 2 days i have not wore a patch…maybe i just needed a little help…but my sister is gonna try to quit to..and i know that she’ll need the patch so im gonna give her the #…i feel great…and i know its kinda weird but i can actually smell my shampoo adn i love it…i dont smell like a cigarett…IM LOVIN IT…
Good for you, Dell!!! Pretty soon your food will taste better too.
well i used to not eat that much…but now all i do is eat…i ate like 5 times yesterday..and my food is already starting to taste better…today is day 11…fourth day without a patch….
Dell, are you eating because it tastes good or to replace smoking?
yea…i dont really crave cigs. im so glad i decided to quit…i feel sooo good about myself…i cant even stand the smell of them now…they STINK…
Hey thanks for all ur help…today is day 27..and i feel wonderful…thanks again…

Thanks…
