I was sickened and appalled just about an hour ago. I have dogs, lots of them. But to me they’re family members. I don’t raise them to have them fight and be hurt or killed… like my neighbor apparently.
I’ve been living across the street from this man for about 5 years. He has three dogs who, as far as I can tell, have been well taken care of. That’s when I was so shocked today when I looked out my window because I heard dogs fighting. What I saw was one of his dogs in a dog pen, the other two locked in a truck so they couldn’t get out. The dog in the dog pen was fighting with a dog I had never seen before, while about 10 or 15 other guys were standing outside the fence, watching and drinking beer. They fought for a good 20 minutes, until the stranger dog was on the ground, either dead or unable to move. The men then removed the hurt or dead dog, and placed another strange dog into the fence. Same thing, the dog who lived there won the fight,and they removed that dog, who wasn’t dead but severely hurt.
DOG FIGHTING! I’ve heard of it but never actually seen it. They bring their dogs to fight each other and bet money on who will win. To get and raise a dog for the sole purpose of having it fight and possibly die is just SICKENING!!!!!!!!!!
I called the animal control, the humane society, and the police. By the time any of them got there, the fighting was over, the injured/dead dogs removed, all the visitors gone. Now, I have 6 dogs, that’s 2 more than I’m allowed to have in the city. I’ve had people call the animal control on me because I have too many dogs. Too many very spoiled and very well taken care of dogs. Oh what a crime. I’ve gotten and paid tickets out the ass because of this. But let a dog fight go on in another house and two dogs die or be hurt badly, and oh how they take their time getting here. Then nobody was arrested. That’s very unfortunate. Being an animal lover myself, (I once held a jack russell, 6 birds, a mouse and a leopard gecko in the same apartment) I can understand your frustration.
Laws to need to be tougher to protect animals. This is very obvious yet we constantly find people who either don’t care or don’t think it’s a major issue.
Post his name and address, there has to be some place online that will do something about it, a group etc.,
What did the police say? Didn’t they give a shit? You should have taken photos!
That’s pretty sad. And they go as far as banning a particular breed of dog because it’s violent and attacks people blaming it on the breed, not the owner who raised it. I hop enext time you see this happen you call right away so the cops can get there before it’s over.
I’m all for not being cruel to animals unless it involves my New York strip. I don’t like pit bulls as a rule and a lot of that is because of their bad rep, but the rest is because I just think they’re ugly, that doesn’t mean I think they ought to be put in a fight to the death or very serious injury. People fighting animals for money is low life. I feel bad when I have to leave the house for more than an hour, Kali acts like she’s been deserted. NOTE: This sympathy does not extend to cows fixing to be on my dinner plate. Or to rats. Or to Pam Anderson’s chickens.
Just reading that sickens me. I can’t imagine having to witness it in person. Sorry you had to, buddy.
I can’t stand to see any animal being abused. It’s one of the few areas in my life where I’m not a wuss and stand up for what I believe in.
Rich is right, photographs or videotaping it will probably be the only way to get something done about it.

I hope your neighbor rots in deepest hell. If people want to go and knife each other, that’s their choice. But animals, god, it makes me want to vomit. They’re like kids! I feel so bad for the poor little doggies that got hurt! : ( The vets have too much to do anyway! As for Diane’s reservations, well, my symapthy includes cows, chickens, pigs (I’m a vegitarian,) and everything except mosquitoes and spiders and other creepy-crawlies.
Only animal battle I can take is cat battle, it’s ugly, it’s dangerous but best cat always wins! Take look this is my favorite warrior.

I’m most certainly not a PETA member that’s for sure, I am a member of PERV though. I don’t believe in cruelty to any animal, unless it’s that shot through the brain right before they go to slaughter.
Dogfights… among wild packs: perfectly natural. Between dogs set on each other for blodsport? A sign on decadent society. Cops who don’t give a shit? Ought to be put in a cage with a VERY vicious dog… or three. Naked.
I like dogs, as a general rule. In a city or town? In their yard. On a leash. Under the control and management of a responsible dog owner. Last run-in I had with a dog was a pit bull who “slipped his leash” and attacked one of my son’s dogs I was out walking. Clamped his jaws on Leo’s neck and began chaking.
Now, Leo’s a BIG boy. He just stood there, looked up at me as if to say, “Well? Whadda ya gonna do?”
So, I “choked” the dog into unconciousness (shoulda broken the damed thing’s neck), pried it off Leo and threw it at its owner who had taken his sweet time coming to get his “pet”. Called animal control and the whole schmeer. What did they care?
That pit pull was later shot by a guy who didn’t like it “slipping its leash” (again?) and chasing down his truck (with two “good boy” bird dogs in the back.
The owner was ticked off, but he’d already seen what kinda shot the pickup fella was, so he just left well enough alone…
Situations like that really piss me off. BUT - most law enforcement agencies keep things like this on a log and if they are called to the same location again, at least they already have something on those people.
