The Cirque Du Soleil show, “Delirium” is coming to Little Rock. My kids and I have always watched their shows on TV when they air, and we’ve always said that if they ever come here, we’d sure like to go.
So now they’re coming. Oh, they really must be Delirious, alright, if they think people in one of the poorest states in the US can afford to pay $240 bucks per ticket.

Jaysus! I saw they were coming to Houston too but I didn’t check on the prices. Go up there and get free tickets Mel, tell them you’re writing a blog piece- LMAO
HOLEY SHEEET!
Are you shure that’s not a typo?
I’d never pay that much cash to see anything, I don’t care if you’re group of super heroes brought back from the future to tell all about what the world will be like.
That’s half my rent!
I don’t even think the Rolling Stones charged that much before.
$240 a ticket? Good lord…
LMFAO @ DIANE! HA I might just try that.
Yeah Mac, I’m sure it’s not a typo, I checked at three different ticketsellers. The cheapest I found was 198 but that was way in the very back.
I (we) saw the show here in Amsterdam it’s fantastic but to slow and to long to keep kids interested, our kids did not like it. The best tickets where here bit more than 60 euros, what’s kind of normal for such show.
I am probably one of the few, but I dont think CDS is worth it. And I only paid $60 when I saw them.
Myrna, You saw them for 60 dollar where? I can’t believe they think Arkansans are going to pay $240 each… I bet they wont have a full house. Boris thinks they weren’t that great, also.
Mel I have an alternative for you. There is new post on my blog about someone from Little Rock if I’m not wrong who could entertain you same much as the Cirque Du Soleil, but for nothing.
LOL boris, thanks!
I conpletely agree. I was able to see a circ show once, but only because the tickets were a gift. I could never go on my own.
whaaaaaaaaaat????? are you serious??? wow!!! i’ve gone a few times and the tickets have never been that much!! guess cuz they’re from montreal which is a stone’s throw away.
a really great show, but yeah… that’s just robbery! not cool at all.
I guess they’re trying to make up for their travel expenses! But seriously, most people in this state can’t afford that. Sure, we have our wealthy people too… I guess that’s all they’ll get.
My wife and I saw the Cirque Du Soleil show, “Delirium”, here San Antonio last night. It is nothing like what you have seen on TV or what you may have seen in Vegas. In fact, It was just awful.
This show was not repeat NOT acrobatics. I was hoping to see that, but what we saw was a bunch of singers in many silly costumes and recoded images projected on a silk screens. The story, well, is just some guy floating around the stage for 90 minutes, and NOT being acrobatic. The first true multiple person acrobatic stunt was 55 minutes into the show. And it was four guys, one on a hand on head stand, and the performer was clearly struggling and they ended the stunt prematurely.
Since my wife had seen the show a Cirque show at Treasure Bay in Vegas, I was really excited going in of everything she told me Cirque Du Soleil show was there. But, honestly, I found myself looking at my watch and praying for this show to end. My wife is even more disappointed because she has seen the real show Cirque. Except for the evening with the wife, this was a waste of $250 bucks. This show will not last long.
Tex, that totally sucks that you guys lost your money!
As Tex said, this show sucks! If you are a cirque fan, do not go into this thing expecting the quality and entertainment from the other shows. Only 2-3 “acts” that weren’t very good at all. The music was alright. Freaky images are projected on large screens and are very hard to follow. The dancers were never in sync. Dressed in little pajamas, they seemed to act like seizure victims most of the show. Do not, i repeat, do not waste your money on this show!
One star would rate this show way tooo high! It was horrible, disgusting, loud, out of sync, bordering on pornographic dance acts…
None of the beauty or amazement you associate with Cirque. I paid $300 for two tickets and would love to have my money back. Hundreds of patrons walked out before the ending. I cannot believe that Cirque put their name on a freak show like this.
We just saw it in Atlanta - wished I would have read these reviews before we wasted our money. Nothing like previous shows. Stinks from beginning to end. If you have tickets - you would be far ahead burning them and staying home.
I have to agree with the last person from ATL. I am one of the stupid oafs who spent over $500 dollars to see this piece of crap. I have previously attended three other shows and would do it again, but as far as Delirium is concerned, they need to go back from where they came from. The reason they call it Delirium is you have to be Delirious to understand and follow this act. I would highly recommend referring this production to people you hate! I probably would have had more fun getting rolled for the $500 in downtown ATL!
SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! It played tonight in Raleigh. Up to now I’ve seen 4 Cirques and I’d see them again.
Delirium is Cirque du so LAME. If performance art with lots of monotone singing and heavy percussion is your thing, then this is your show. Otherwise, save your money, your gas, and most important, your evening. This is an event, but it is not a Cirque as most folks understand Cirque.
I hate to hear of all you fine people having your money stolen from you. I call it stolen because they didn’t advertise that it was not going to be the CIRQUE you wanted to see. I’m so glad I didn’t spend my money on it. Thanks to everyone for commenting and letting us know.
Tex nailed it totally in #13. I saw this show last night in Raleigh and despised it. Very loud, non-stop music and mostly people jumping around in some kind of poorly choreographed and out-of-synch modern dance. With some pretentious anthropological theme — who knows, who cares? ALMOST NO ACROBATICS. Huge disappointment.
It sounds like everyone came into “Delirium” with high expectations… or at least those of an acrobatic nature lol. But “Delirium” seems to place an emphasis on music instead of the usual routine, personally I love electronic music and find the concept intriguing. Even in the ad it states that it’s a “live music event.” I suppose if your considering buying tickets to this show don’t come with expecting the usual Cirque Du Soleil experience… just some good Techno lol.
Hey guys,
Visit the cirque du soleil website before buying your tickets: it is clearly mentionned that this is a concert, not a regular cirque du soleil show. Concert is mostly music.
The seatmap will show you that it is in a stadium with over 10 000 patrons, no in a regular tent with only 2500 seats. You are not able to see a lot of acrobatics in such a huge place.
Beside Delirium, the Cirque du soleil shows are still very nice (I saw Varekai in Portland 2 month ago) and affordable $35 to $95; even the cheapest seats are ok (I tried one during intermission): the tent is not too big so you are still not too fare from the stage.
sorry for you guys who went to Delirium: from what I have heard, it is a partnetship with clear channel: cirque is just providing teh artistic and they do the rest ($$$) that may be whay it is so expensive
tom.
I saw the show in Toronto and as many of you have commented it was a piece of crap!! There was a lot of drumming, singing, and visual effects such as people in their underwear opening doors. The only real “circus” act was a young lady in a skimpy outfit twirling 5 hula hoops. I only paid $125 Canadian and for those who haven’t seen it, wait for Barnum and Bailey. Don’t waste your money.
First of all get you facts straight nowhere are the prices $240.If you don’t want to pay the ticket price that’s one thing but what’s the point in making shit up.Anyway.The show is good, sure you won’t like it if you go with a bad attitude. Its a music show, and it says it is so don’t be “surprised”.Either you like it or you don’t but its hard to claim ,with a straight face, that the show is crap.Try to have something constructive to say instaed of just being bitchy.Bitchy is easy.
Excuse me Rob. When I posted this article while they were here in Little Rock, Arkansas, yes the tickets were $240 each. Why do you think I would be “making shit up” ??
Look HERE they are 241 dollars in las vegas
and CLICK here to see they’re over 270, notice that says price EACH.
and HAVE A LOOK AT DENVERS PRICES, 240 to 275 EACH TICKET.
So YOU should get YOUR facts straight before coming onto somone’s blog telling THEM to get THEIR facts straight.
Now you want me to say something about this besides bitchy? Fine. When they came to Arkansas it was fairly early in the delirium tour, and they did NOT advertise here in arkansas that it was “something different.” The only advertising we got was on a couple of billboards, where it simply said Cirque Du Soleil. Nobody here knew until after the first show that it wasn’t your normal show.
So my “constructive” advice to that group would be the next time they want to do something different, don’t start off the tour by trying to hide what it is they’re really doing. And apparently a lot of people thought the show was way overpriced and sucked, just read the other comments here.
hello mel,
Just wanted to make a note…I went to the link you posted for Denver prices and was suprised you are using this ticket site. Ticketmaster is the offical website to purchase the Denver Pepsi Center Tickets. The highest priced tickets are $125 and there are still seats available in all sections including the cheap seats which are in the $60 range.
Just thought those who are thinking about going in Denver should know…,
I just found your entry on Cirque du Soleil (I did a reserch on Google
). We were hired by Cirque du Soleil as official bloggers, so we had the chance to blog from backstage during the Delirium show. Here are the links:

Hey Mel I checked out your links for ticket prices and I don’t know what they are but if you go to the Cirque web site http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSoleil/en/showstickets/delirium/tours/tours_intro.htm you will see prices are $ 70-125 .i agree it ain’t cheap but its not $270 or whatever.I’m sorry you had a bad experience but I happen to know that the show has improved greatly and is now quite a good show.I know you wouldn’t go again but I wish you could see it now.
Thanks for checking prices everyone but please keep in mind that this original post was made on FEBRUARY 28, and at that time, when they were here IN ARKANSAS, I could not find a ticket for under 240 bucks. That’s all I’m saying. (Stop ragging on me everyone, lol.)
And at that price I could not afford to go and take my daughter. We missed it. But since it was a mucic thing and not their usual show, I wouldn’t have wanted to see it anyway.
I saw Delirium in Worcester, MA last night. Total waste of time and money! We walked out before the show ended, as did others both last night and the night before. We have seen several of their shows around the country, and this was like a community theater group trying to be like Cirque du Soleil. Poor choreography, music that was way too loud, and virtually no acrobatics. And the pre-show performer/band? Forget it! Anyone else thinking about seeing this show should go do something else much more enjoyable and for a lot less money!
As I write this, Delirium is taking place right outside my office. We have had wonderful crowds and people have responded extremely well. However, in our market it was advertised as precisely what it is and my agents sold it with the explanation. I understand your points, but I think you could ease up a bit, Cirque didn’t put this show on the road to screw anyone over. Prices are also fairly standard across the country at this point if you go through primary point-of-sale.
Saw the show in Worcester also and it truly SUCKED!!! What a waste of money - and I was treating my friend for her birthday - I got more and more pissed off as I sat there. Who the heck put this show together? C’mon…do you think a guy hanging from a balloon for 2 hrs. is entertaining? The music was droll…dancers were good but choreography was not great. Oh, and the hula hoop girl? Yes, she had a good leg extension, but a hula hooper can only do so much!! The guy on stilts was entertaining for about the first 10 mins. He walks back & forth across the stage for 2 hrs. just mumbling….Such a waste of my $$$ and time. Reading all these comments is more entertaining!!
Andrew: You seem to indicate, in #32, a substantial business connection with the show or the venue. This does not disqualify you, in my view from commenting and defending the show. But I don’t think that you should admonish the fourm, in general, to “ease up a bit.” A lot of people are a little hot about an expensive and disappointing experience. If it were a single individual in an over-the-top rant, “ease up” might be appropriate. But I don’t think that folks in general should “ease up.” I think they should say exactly how they feel about it.
Thanks, Ed.

And did you read number 25? The nerve! lol
Follow-up to seeing the Worcester “show”… Cirque sent me an e-mail survey about Delirium, obviously geared toward attendees expectations of the show before seeing it and perceptions of the show after seeing it. Needless to say, I gave them some strong opinions. It was a lengthy survey, and I imagine they are doing it to figure out what went wrong with Delirium and why their faithful fans are so disgruntled. They asked in the survey if I was interested in further follow-up for which I “might” get paid. Very interesting… This is the first time I have ever seen such a survey following a performance.
This was horrible. I have seen previous shows of Cirque Du Soleil and I must say that this was the worst of all. First we had to sit through a 25 minute Squeeling of some singer that we could not understand even though she was singing in English. She was just too loud, screaming, simply boring. Then after another 20 minutes break the show was finally about to start. So we thought. It was a cheesy story line, with a freak hanging from a balloon trying to be funny, more strange songs and hard to understand music. The acrobatics were almost non-existing. Nothing but loud drums, projected images on a screen and many yawns.
It was a bad show, and a waste of $250.
I’m sorry!
I have put together a letter that sums up my feelings about Delerium… for one reason or another, I never sent it off… I feel as though I still should however it’s been months since the show was in town…

To Cirque IHQ,
Hi, my name is xxxxx xxxxx and I have been an avid fan of Cirque Du Soleil ever since I was fortunate enough to see Dralion in Southern California about four years ago. I recently moved to Dallas, Tx and was amazed at the music and talent of Verakai. I was extremely excited that the new show Delerium was coming to Texas and being a part of the Cirque members I was offered advance purchasable tickets. I immediately went to the web site to purchase them as it was right around my fiancés birthday. I got the premium seats at the premium price and have been waiting four months to see this show. I was in section 6 row D seats 17 and 18 which were essentially dead center 3 rows from the very front. Needless to say, I was a bit ecstatic. I went into not trying to expect a lot, but with a name like Cirque Du Soleil and based off of previous phenomenal experiences with the Cirque shows, I couldn’t help but be a little zealous.
The show began with a pretty decent performance by the band Nitza. I love cultural music and they were definitely on the forefront regarding world music and they were definitely a great preface to what was supposed to be a great show. Unfortunately, it was only a good prelude to a dream to say the least. After they performed obviously came the opening act of the wrist light people which once again, proved to be a very good building up scene getting the audience ready for a show. Unfortunately this was very anti-climatic. Following the wrist light people were the drummers on the dome. Once again the drummers were very energetic but also once again, very, very anti-climatic. Then fast forward through the rest of the show because there wasn’t anything else in between worth even mentioning or remembering.
This show has all the potential of living up to the Cirque Du Soleil brand that every show I’ve seen in the past whether it be on DVD or in real life has been. Instead, it only bastardizes the prestigious name of Cirque Du Soleil. I understand that this show was going more for music than they were performance now, but on the website, they claim that it “pushes the limits of arena performance”, which maybe I misconstrued into meaning “performance” as in performances or acts. The three of four low rent performances that were there were nothing short of dull and overdone. I’ve literally seen better acts at Six Flags over Texas and it only cost me the price of admission to the park.
The music although loud and clear, most of it was obviously performed by the same band who did the intro into the show?! I have never seen any one perform an opening for a show that they are also headlining in, so I was immediately caught off guard. With that aside, if this is supposed to be such a mystical of magic and music, why are the songs all remixes?! On top of being remixes, they are poorly constructed as well. If this truly is a celebration of music, shouldn’t there be a lot more originally composed tracks?
Once again, this show had a lot of potential, too bad it tries to go for risqué and artsy at the same time and fails miserably in a big flaming pile of misdirected obscurities, performances, choreography, and dance numbers. I honestly wish there was at least one aspect of this show that had some evidence of redeeming factor. I have never had a problem paying the price of admission to a show that is worth it. Unfortunately, not only was “Delerium” not worth it, we wanted to walk out half-way through. My fiancé understanding the amount of effort I had put into getting us those seats did, not wanting to hurt my feelings and advise we leave, although I would’ve completely understood and agreed. However, I maintained high hopes that something would eventually happen… but much to my demise, it never did. You could tell the as the crowd was walking out that pretty much everyone in there felt as though they had been ripped and were expecting a lot more. When you put the Cirque name on something, you can’t help but expect to be amazed.
I guess to sum up my feelings a little better, I am simply asking for some sort of restitution for the money I paid not only for the tickets, but parking, time, and the sheer amount of disappointment that I put my fiancé through for her birthday for nothing but anti-climatic displays and music that I could have heard from a local band. I know that I’m just another faceless person in what was sure to be an almost sold out crowd, but I am prepared to ensure some sort of corrective action gets taken or I will no longer be that faceless person. Also, I hate even having to devote time to this letter because I’ve done nothing but praise Cirque Du Soleil to all of my family, friends, and co-workers but this past experience has done nothing but left an empty void of an opinion where Cirque once stood on a golden pedestal.
What do you guys think? Wanna join me in my quest?! I’ll check this post again in a month or so…
We live in Omaha and were so excited to be able to see a show here for once. They did not advertise that it was a musical and not acrobatics or the breathtaking show you would come to expect - now, after missing GOOD shows in Vegas last week, we come home excited to see Delerium in October, only to read this and want to kick ourselves. I guess it’s back to Vegas. 2 Omaha Tickets for Sale to Delerium Anyone????? I can’t handle the disappointment.
We went to this show in Seattle last night and left after 10 minutes. My friend leaned over and goes, “I’m ready to go any time you are.” I thought he was kidding. I said, “Yeah, let’s just go get Thai food.” And he goes, “Well, the whole show is going to be … this …” referring to the woman (Nitza) singing the same song over and over and over. I thought he was kidding. He wasn’t.
I’ve been to a bunch of Cirque shows all over the US and couldn’t imagine - just a ‘concert?’ Cher (I saw 3 times) was waaaaay more interesting than this. Prince’s show was fun. Madonna kicked ass. Scissor Sisters. NINA HAGEN IN A TINY DIVE BAR. THOSE were concerts. This was not a concert. It was a lame replay of the same TIRED TIRED TIRED soundtrack in every show. Raise your hand if you go to Cirque for the music. That’s what I thought. Me neither.
For Cirque to even pimp a concert with their brand name … well .. I have to say I enjoyed the Thai food more than our poor friends who stayed behind enjoyed the “concert.”
I have to say I have really enjoyed all these comments on this post. Especially that last one. LOL
something positive about the show: all the performers did a great job, especially the singers. this was a new venture for cirque(i have a friend in the show), working with two directors who had never done ‘circus’ work, but avant-garde plays and events in montreal. i have also found the music of cirque a bit cheesy and new-age (some exceptions), and adding techno beats (not in any way ‘tribal’ to me) certainly didn’t add any musical value, and i would not purchase this cd. i, however, found many things to enjoy in the show. so those who have tickets, go, be open. the imagery is strange and often beautiful- the dancing angular, uncomfortable, but expressive. if you are into art and risks you will like the show. it was engaging- and though not Ka or O or La Nouba, still held surprises. if you only want the brawn and the bendies, sell your tickets.
I agree with frothy…you have to keep an open mind when going to the show. It’s something new and different for Cirque. There are many beautiful moments in the show. I know a few people in the show and people work extremely hard, rehearsals every day, etc…And the tickets do range from 60 to 125. Nitza is the opening act for 20 minutes then the Delirium show begins. I appreciate this show because it’s actually something new from Cirque. A welcome change. They can’t keep the same formulas for their shows or they will disappear.
My husband and I saw the show in Seattle and enjoyed quite a lot. Not to say there were not moments where we both felt confused, but it did have a good story line, if you looked for it. The guy in the balloon was going though a dreamscape trying to solve some problems and the music and interactions were intended to show this.
We particularly enjoyed the “drum off” and the opening act. Having seen three other Cirque shows, I can understand people who purchased tickets without going to see the previews were disappointed. And yes, we paid for the $125 seats.
I would recommend the show to people with the caveat that one should not expect the typical show from cirque and remember, the show is supposed to be a dream.
I just got home from the Omaha performance of Delirium. Before I went I read the reviews on this site and thought, “this isn’t good”. I was surprised to see that people were wrong. Maybe it’s because Omaha hasn’t seen anything like this- or the other Cirque shows are different, but this “dream” stood out. The excitement of the audience, the performers, the big screens, and the zest of everyone involved made my night great– I’d give it a chance– I’m glad I did.By the way I only paid 100 for my ticket and I was right in the center of the auditorium.
I just stumbled onto this site after trying to find the name of the opening act for the Delirium concert. I was there last night and I’ve seen several Cirque shows both on film and at Vegas. This was slightly (slightly) different but great. Whatever bugs were in the show seemed to have been worked out. We paid 70 bucks for tickets.
It isn’t the acrobatic Cirque - it is a music and interpretive dance thing with some minimal acrobatics. But it was great. The twisted imagination of the Cirque producers is still in the show. It was surreal, funny, and hypnotic.
We went to see Delirium on Friday, 11/3. We paid $74. per ticket for nosebleed tickets and we were so disappointed. We saw “Mystere” in Vegas several years back. That was expensive, but we left the theatre happy that we spent the money. This was the worst Cirque that we ever saw. We actually went for the acrobatics and except for the “foursome” (who were great), there was nothing! The music was terrible, the light show annoying and the music was uninspiring! Think twice before spending money to see this show!
My daughter had been begging me to take her to another Cirque show since we saw “La Nouba” at Disneyworld 2 years ago. Our local paper had a front page article on Delirium 10 days before the actual show. Thinking it was probably sold out, I was surprised to find 3 tickets for a matinee $155 total including all service charges. Not the best seats(off to the right side) but I got my family in for fifty bucks each and the “experience”. I found myself enjoying the music, thought the voices were great,(including the opening act), thought the lighting/staging was creative, except when one of the motorised lights shone in my face. But yes, with the exception of the hula hoop girl it was more like modern dance with pulsing music. As one person said, the dancing wasn’t as precise as we thought it should be. I found myself feeling overall it was ok, as did my daughter. My wife felt it was “long”. Definitly not the way we felt when we left “La Nouba”, where we paid more, but REALLY felt we had seen something special.
I’m going to see the show tonight at Madison Square Garden in NYC and now that I have read everyones blogs I am starting to regret that I spent $130 per ticket. I have seen Mystere in Vegas and LOVED it, and saw Corteo at Randalls island and was kinda dissapointed. It seems like the experiences I have having are getting worse and worse. O well, can’t get a refund now, I just wish they had more acrobats!
I saw the show at Madison Square Garden in NYC last night. I don’t even think disappointed adequately describes how I feel. After seeing 3 previous shows - La Nouba (Disney World), Mystere (Vegas), and Corteo (New York), I could not have been more excited to see this show. We bought $130 tix in July, that’s how excited we were. About 20 minutes into it I realized that this show was going to include music similar to what I hear on subway platforms every day (you know, the people that play for tips). After the Corteo show, I would have paid $500 for a ticket, that’s how much I loved it. After this show, I feel like the “Cirque Du Soleil” brand was pimped out to get unsuspecting fans to shell out A LOT of money to hear boring music and watch people dance around in wierd costumes. I went expecting to see acts that left me saying “oh my lord, how do they do that?”, but instead left saying “oh my lord, how could they call that Cirque Du Soleil?”. For those who are lucky enough to not have bought tickets, save you money and pay a $5 cover charge at any bar in america to hear medicre music from musicians you’ve never heard of or will ever hear of again! They did a very poor job of alerting the public to the fact that this was 90% music and 10% performance. Then again, if they did that, who in their right mind would pay $130 per ticket? Hmmmmm…..
Just saw Delirium for $129.00 a ticket. We were in front row center seats with the speakers in front of us.The drums were pounding and voices blaring so loudly I could not enjoy anything happening on stage. Neither my 17 year old performing arts son or my husband or I were entertained and left half way through the show. A waste of time and money. There was nothing beautiful or uplifting. We loved 2 other productions, and wished we read this site before attending.
WOW I just want to say thanks to everyone who saw the show and came here to tell us about your experience, either good or bad.
I just saw this last night in Hampton, VA. What a waste. It was basically two hours of some guy doing the robot (poorly) under a blue ball, and some guy on stilts yammering random syllables in an obnoxious, shrill voice. The music was OK. The singing was honestly not very good. The acrobatics was almost non-existent for a show that was supposed to “stretch the limits of arena performance” or whatever the blurb was on the website.
The thing that annoyed me the most was the sync of the multimedia side of the show. Any live video that was projected during the show had about a second delay, making it completely unwatchable.
My date fell asleep halfway through the show. I’d wake her when I thought something impressive was about to happen, but we’d both just be underwhelmed, and she’d nod off again. Most people I talked to after the show were disappointed. It was all spectacle, but none of what the audience wanted and expected.
Save your money. Visit a nice restaurant and then go see a local band for a better time.
I saw Delirium last year in Oklahoma City, and thouroughly enjoyed myself. I can’t remember how much I paid for tickets, but no more than $100 per ticket.
The one thing I see repeated through all these comments is, “no acrobats” - if those people complaining about this had taken the time to find out what they were going to see before going, perhaps they wouldn’t have been so disappointed. I left reluctantly at the end of the show, not wanting it to end. Now it is coming back through OKC again on another round of the tour - I already have plans to see it again with friends!
Set your expectations before you go, and it will be totally enjoyable. Expect:
1. A crazy light show/projector show - this was one of my favorite features of the show!
2. Jazzed-up, English-language versions of old Cirque favorite music pieces - I did not find the music too loud, although sometimes could not follow the lyrics. Who needs to know the words, anyways…Cirque music is all about the sound.
3. EXPECT LITTLE TO NO ACROBATICS! This CONCERT is not a circus show - there are no circus acts in it!
I thought I had a number 4 but I’ve forgotten it. Oh well. This show is about the music, the lights, the dancing - its like a trip without chemicals. Enjoy it, everyone. I plan to - again!
“Cirque didn’t put this show on the road to screw anyone over.”
But yet they did. I was so bored at this show, and I sat through the whole damnable thing, that I don’t even want to see their regular shows anymore. I can’t believe this is still touring. A total waste of money.
SHEEEEEEEESH!!! $240 a seat??? The ONLY seats worth any where near that are FRONT ROW SEATS AT CHER’S CONCERT!!
My boyfriend took me to see this show for my Valentine’s present because he knew I’ve never seen one and wanted to. We saw it Saturday 2/10/07 in Minneappolis, MN and we didn’t know what to expect but were still excited. Our excitement was short lived as the show was awful!
We were both bored and didn’t like the flow of the show. This guy floating around by a thread from a balloon and we’re watching his dream which was his life from start to finish. Don’t get me wrong, the singers could sing but that’s all it really was…singing and hectic, the flow of the show was horrible!
The only part that was awesome were the acrobats which were flexible and did some amazing things but they didn’t show until close to the end of the show.
I just think that this was a waste of $90 per ticket for a confusing, boring show that should not continue to perform! I would like the money back but I know that’s not going to happen!
Dear Lord, $250 dollars later… I don’t know what to say. Just got back from seeing Delirium in Chicago and it sucked. Really sucked. What an incredible waste of money and time.
I saw the show this last weekend in Chicago. As was mentioned earlier, it was more like a rock concert with fantastic visuals than what I had come to expect — excellent performers engaged in accomplished feats of acrobatics and such.
The story line was vague or, perhaps, I was simply not with it enough to figure it out. The barrage of visuals, although extraordinarily varied and provocative, served only to distract me from concentrating on the seemingly peripheral and ancillary stage performances which were, at best, only a notch or two above amateurish.
The “performance” was not worth the money, and, in my opinion, smears a large amount of scat on the heretofore pristine image of Cirque Du Soleil.
I, too, saw the “performance” in Chicago yesterday. I agree with many of the critiques. However, several excellent individual performances stood out: the woman with the hoops was awesome and the acrobat balancing himself on one hand (following the first African scene) was incredible. Other than those two performances, the show was a bust.
Ok guys I am going to see this show in Birmingham Al on March 24. I was very excited but now I’m a little discouraged. Please tell me something good about this show. I have never seen a Cirque show in person only on TV. I won the tickets from Citadel so no money investment. Come on tell me something good….
I convinced my friend yesterday that he needs to see this show, that was going only on the name Cirque du Soleil. I am just sick now after reading the reviews. I am ready to dump the tickets but would feel horrible selling my tickets to an unsuspecting individual. I wish I had found this site before buying my tickets.
Hi everyone. Just saw it in OKC last night.
The show is great. Is it Varekai? Alegria? No.
Is it an *awesome* concert, with a few neat tricks? Yes.
Ask yourself this, before you consider going: Have you seen Blue Man Group? Did you like that?
This is sort of Blue Man Group channeled through traditional Cirque shows.
Well worth every single penny. ($110 each for front row tickets.) If you like Cher concerts, you’re going to dislike it. If, however, you have an open mind and expect a *loud* *surreal* concert experience, you’re going to have a ball.
First, I would like to thank those of you who had something “possative” to say about DELIRIUM. You’ve obviously done your homework before going to the show and knew what you getting into.
I think its sad that most of “ya’ll” can’t connect with the freshest touring Cirque show and that you are, basicly, trying to boycott the group for doing something different.
Well, if any of the so-called fans have been to cirquedusoleil.com you would know that being “different” is Cirque’s foundation. Its what they are all about and where they came from.
Cirque Du Soleil has always performed in universal languages, and from what I’ve gathered, DELIRIUM (as it clearly states on the website-A LIVE MUSIC CONCERT) is using music, tribal beats, & multimedia to reach a different, possibly younger type of audience!
Its funny that most of you say the music is “monotone” and “repetative”. I’ve heard it a thousand times, when folks critisize the music I choose to listen to, just because “they” don’t get it. No, its not that music you hear on the subway or in car commercials. Its electronica, techno, tribal, breakbeat, DANCE!!!! So, apparently, DELIRIUM is only being selectively universal as only certain people can honestly understand or connect with or relate to dance music.
Do your homework before spending so much money! Don’t get your tickets from scalper’s websites! Cirque Du Soleil is not for the closed minded. DELIRIUM might not be the show to take your kids and expect them to sit still. Why does Cirque have to please everyone? They obviously don’t have to do such a thing in ONE SHOW. Why do you think they came up with
Zumanity? They have a show for everyone, and if you want to see acrobatics, wait for Corteo or Dralion or Verekai to come to town, but don’t dis DELIRIUM just because you had your hopes up for something that its not.
That’s my take on the show, but who am I? I’ve only watched the preview clip a 1,000 times
http://www.cirquedusoleil.com/CirqueDuSoleil/en/showstickets/delirium/intro/intro_default.htm
and read all I could from forums like this one.
I just got my tickets today from ticketfast/ticketmaster and don’t regret a single dime spent, even after reading these bloggs.
I look forward to seeing DELIRIUM! I hope they let me DANCE MY ASS OFF! That’s what people do when they go to a “concert”, not sit around and complain.
Furthermore — $110 is not very much money at all when you examine just how massive the touring company is. The performers alone have *five* buses to transport them. That doesn’t even get to the staff and production team.
Just saw Delirium last night in Bossier City, Louisiana… LOVED IT. Based on what I’ve read and seen about it, I think they’ve been tweaking the show - the guy wasn’t dangling from the balloon all night. In fact, he was only suspended from it for the first 4 or 5 minutes of the entire show. The rest of the time he would come in and out of the “dream sequences”. There were a ton of acrobatics, something was performed for each song, and although that’s not “typical Cirque” it’s an awful lot compared to what I’ve read on this site. I went knowing full well that it was a rock concert, and was actually surprised to see the amount of acrobatics that were done. I even went to the official website and watched the clip of the program, and it was apparent that they’ve changed the show up, costumes and content, probably due to people complaining of not enough bang for their buck. My only complaint was that in the 4th row center, I couldn’t get the full experience because I couldn’t see everything that was going on up on the stage and the screens on the sides. I never thought I’d say this, but this is DEFINITELY not a show you want to see up close from the floor.
When my friends and i saw that Delirium was coming to New Orleans, we all decided to pitch in and buy tickets, because we had all seen the other shows that are sometimes on Bravo Tv. we had 11th row seats for a reasonable price, but i wanted to scream at the performers, except the guy on the stilts- he was ok. My friends and i are 10 and 11th grade cheerleaders and gymnists - we could all do the stuff they were doing on stage - save the guys who held each other up and looked like they were going to fall.i could have gone to a cheerleading competion and had a better show - so sad i wasted my time and money on that piece of crap instead of going out to a party that was that night as well. SAVE YOUR MONEY !! DO NOT GO TO DELIRIUM -IT SUCKED MAJOR BALLS!

I don’t know what the last two comments have to do with anything~GET YOUR OWN ROOM! Back to the topic of discussion.
My boyfriend and I saw DELERIUM in Raleigh, April 2. We’re both former first timers. I must say I was a bit wishey-washey from all the bad feedback people had to share, but the moment I walked into the arena, I was consumed by wonder. “Where is the stage?!” “What are they going to do on those projection screens?!” “What’s going to happen next?!”
I had a clue, but I really had no idea what was in store for the evening. I knew it would be a concert. DUH~I listened to every track sampled on the website. Its all their greatest tracks remixed! It was so COOL! I recognized SEVERAL tracks: “Oh, that’s from DRALION! Oh, that’s QUIDAM!”. (still concidering the purchase of the CD.) I saw every picture cirquedusoleil.com had available, but I had no idea that it would turn out so beautiful and imaginative as it was! Yes! They pushed the limit of arena perfomance by far!! and then some!!
ACTS! They had so many!! Ok, cheerleaders who think they can do the pyramid better than the 4 Men Acrosport. I’d like to see you hand balance, or contort in a hammock sheet suspended in the air, or spin, flip, and STOP before you hit the stage face first!! Can you do that?? Some acts were happening at the same time! No matter where you were looking, you were bound to be amazed! Sure, this is not a “front row seat is a perfect seat” kind of show. The stage is so big that you need a wide, panoramic view to see it all, and you’ve got to see it all for the story to come together. We sat in the 3rd row behind the floor. AMAZING! Everywhere we looked was a “FEAST FOR OUR EYES”!!! And the band was FANTASTIC! I love bongos, and those guys with dreads played the HELL OUT THEM!
Every scene change was so elegantly fluid, a Cirque Du Soleil SIGNATURE! They pull your attention one way, so they can surprise you with the unexpected elsewhere. My eyes were constantly moving. My soul was jumping up and down. I wanted to jump up and DANCE right along with them!! But I must have been sitting next to one of you sour pusses who acted like you had better things to do, so I tapped my foot for two hours straight, sending vibrations through the floor of the whole row!
Act after Act after Act. It was a rollercoaster ride for you MIND! This may not have been a typical Cirque show, but it had Cirque’s fingerprints ALL OVER IT! If Cirque Du Soleil teamed up with Pink Floyd today, that’s DELERIUM!! Only deeper!
This show was exactly~to a T~what the perfect dream really is. And when time is running out, you know you are about to wake up, but you wish it could go on FOREVER.
One thing I cannot explain is how so many people in the audience were glued to their seats when it was all over. I guess they didn’t realize it was over, or perhaps they were feeling the same denial as I did. I just wanted more…and more..and MORE! My ONLY disapointment is that we did not stick around long enough to shake someone’s hand.
CHEERS to the creators: Gilles and Carmen. “Everyday is a lifetime, we all walk a fine line between the earch and sky, take a stand at the frontline, keep reaching for the sky” So true for the dreamer in all of us.
Congratz to the crew: Francis, Robbie, Michel, Alain, Catherine, Anne, Yves, Nathalie, Mario, and Ian. You pulled off a most up-lifting and universally connected mind trip! I will never forget and can’t wait to see what you can do with media and technology next!
Oh, and guys, I am really sorry for bouncing the baloon into your equipment. That thing was HUGE and I freaked out. Can you forgive me?
Big up~ PROPS to the band! Dessy, Amanda, and Jennifer, your voices sang on in my head long after the show had ended! And, If there was a DANCE FLOOR, you would definately see me ON IT!!
Bravo, ET MERCI! to the performers: There are no words to describe your talents. Your coriagraphy was so on point, I don’t care what the others say. They only wish they could pull off what you do as a living. Keep doing what you are doing, and please consider this the handshake that I so dearly wanted to give. You, at least, reached two people in the audience FOR SURE!
Sergii, Oleg, Everth, and Yvan, Your perfomance of balancing was supurb! Ming Fang_Chine and Rui Ling_Chine, you guys were DOPE! Your aerial act defied gravity! Michael Duffy, your dancing was so FRESH! You had me so pumped! It was hard to keep my seat through your performance.
I wish I could name everyone, for real! Ladies in the hammocks, Aerial Hoops Solo with the digital spider web costume (you are on my screen saver, and I didn’t even know it was you until your hoop entered the stage, then I knew exactly who you were!), Hoops Solo~oh my God you were so AMAZING! I really want to know just how may of those hoops can you juggle! 10-12? More? There’s so many more, and I’m sorry I can’t name you all, but last and most definatly not least, Karl Baumann: Thank you for taking us on a most enjoyable ride through a most EXHILARATING dream. We will never forget this experience. ~Merci~
Just watched the show in Miami…
Don’t waste your time and money!!!
1. The music was really loud, not to say annoying, and the singers weren’t that good.
2. The story line was hard to understand (if there was any)
3. The lights weren’t well positioned; it was very hard to see the stage without them bothering your eyes
4. If you weren’t close, you couldn’t really see what was going on in the screens
