Considering that I am an avid Internet Explorer hater, I must admit that the new IE v. 7 (now in beta) is pretty freakin awesome. It’s got tabs, and every website I’ve looked at with it so far looks better than in my Netscape and Firefox. You do realize now that your computer is going to explode in 7 days right?
Pretty soon when you go to do something, you’ll be re-introduces to the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!
Our thoughts are with you Mel.
I unfortunately was a little disappointed with the IE7 beta. It did offer major improvements over the previous version, yet it lacked some aspects that I hoped would make my life easier as a web developer.
I found it’s core to be very similar and still forcing me to create multiple CSS entries to adjust to it’s rendering differences from versions of Firefox and Safari.
I do feel it is going in the right direction and I look forward to the finished product.
A pox on you and your IE7!!!!!
(nothing personal, just IE hatred)
;)
OK everyone of ya, put the gun down, kick it to me, and back away slowly toward the door.
I was just TRYING it, I’m not converting!!! lol
You can put a silk dress on a pig but it’s still a pig.
Mel, repeat after me: “Bill Gates is the Devil.”
Actually, you can use IE7 with near viral and moral impunity, if you only use the uninstalled stand-alone version (the only ie I allow on my computer at all is a standalone version).
Skyzyx Downloads used to offer all editions of ready-made standalone ie zip packages but the Microsoft Monster has apparently been breathing down his neck and they’re not there at the moment.
However, it’s easy to turn the beta from msdn into a standalone, using the instructions from this website:
http://weblogs.asp.net/jgalloway/archive/2005/12/28/434132.aspx
Not that I’ll be using 7 — 5.5 standalone is more than good enough for the rare occasions when I don’t use Firefox.
Doesn’t matter how beautiful 7 looks, if you can’t plug it up with the adblock extension.
DL, do you have a PC with Windows? lol
Amy, thanks for that link!
I can neither confirm nor deny the existance/use of a Windows PC. Ok, you got me. Yes, I run Windows 2000 Pro, but I’m planning on doing my periodic wipe/reinstallation and just run Advanced Server 2000. I also have a PC running Red Hat Fedora Core 3, and an iBook with MacOS X. Oh, and I only have the Windows PC to play games. Yeah, and I got MCSE+Security. There! Are you happy you outed me?! *crying in the corner in the fetal position mumbling “Bill Gates really is the Devil”*
:-)
DL, you’re such a programmer. yes I know that’s what you do for a living, but what i mean is that you’re such a programmer all the time, lol. Really I don’t know half of what you just said! And to answer your question in the post above this one, I don’t know what kind of mac, because I’ve never even used one. All I know is it was big and pretty and had an apple on it, hehe.
LOL. I can’t help myself.
