I saw it yesterday, but this isn’t a movie review. Although, I will say that it was too long and I was bored at times, and all the best parts were in the previews. This is about the protesters that were outside the movie theater. Catholics, I believe.
When we got to the theater and drove past them, a few of them were wearing priest and monk clothes. Sara said, “Did you see the midget in the priest gown?” I said, “That wasn’t a midget, it was a priest on his knees.” We argued about it until we got inside, and decided to have a better look on the way out. On the way out, the same guy was now standing up, but he was still shorter than Sara, so we were kinda both right.
The second time we passed them, we noticed some little kids out there holding up their signs and shouting “Fiction is still blasphemy!” Awwww come on now, that just ain’t right! You make your kids stand out there on a hot day, wasting their Saturday afternoon to yell at cars a word that they probably don’t even know the meaning of… but I’m willing to bet that when you get home you’ll think nothing of them putting in a Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings dvd.
All this over a movie they’ve never seen, too, I bet. They should see the movie so they’ll know what they’re protesting. All through the movie they let the viewers know that it was simply a theory. Even Tom Hanks scoffed at the theory.

Yah I’ve heard of a lot of people protesting the blasphemous nature of the film. But, like you said, voices have also been raised at Harry Potter (not Lord of the Rings though), but like you I bet they still let their children watch innocuous things like that.
So, how was the film? Where’s the film review?
I slept through some of it so I can’t give a fair review, lol.
“I slept through some of it” - ROFL!
you know, what gets me about the protesters is that obviously they didn’t learn a damn thing from protesting Madonna back in the 80’s. They are lending free publicity and controversy sells. They will cause more people to see it just because of their protests. Idiots.
Now, I won’t go see it in the theater because I am too cheap and broke. I haven’t read the book, nor do I plan on it in the future, but not because of my religious beliefs. I saw a movie a year or two ago with a similar premise, and I found it quite interesting.
Anyway, there you have one of my potential future blog posts. LOL!
Hi there. Nice blog. Just going through by blogroll and came here. I haven’t seen this movie, but I’m kind of outside the loop on this one. I’m studying to be a minister see, and also have my own blog, but I think its great for Christianity that this movie is so popular. Its an opportunity to witness. Duh. If we Christians believe the Gospel is truth than by all means, challenge it. It has been challenged thousands of times and when the dust settles, the Gospel is the last one standing, and usually even more validated.
Dragonlady: That other movie you saw, was that by chance The Body?
Tim, to be honest, I can’t remember. The one thing that really stuck with me was at the very end when the Pope (I think) took that baby with him so he could raise the Antichrist.
I looked up The Body on IMDB, and no, that wasn’t the one I saw. It was either a made-for-tv, or European. The more I think about it, the more I think i saw it before we came back to the states from England. It might have been a British made-for-tv movie. LOL.
Hi Tim… thanks for your opinions. I’ve had a glimpse at your blog and it looks very interesting, adding it to my list of blogs to catch up on tomorrow.
I don’t know why people get their panties a in a twist over a movie.
The movie does point out a few holes in the stories in the bible and make you go, “Hmmmm?”
It also lets you see it from botrh sides.
But it’s just a movie, I don’t believe there is anything at the start of the movie that says,”BASED ON A TRU STORY.”
People just don’t know when to shut the fuck up and let others be.
I’m going to go see the movie dispite all the yahoo’s protesting.
I also bet you guys are righ about if you went into their homes you would find copies of Harry Potter on DVD there.
Sheesh!
That wasn’t a midget, it was a priest on his knees. Hilarious!
Of course the protesters haven’t seen the movie. Isn’t that how it always works?
I’ve read the book, but it was before all the controversy, and I didn’t know Dan Brown had an agenda. I just thought it was one of those “What If?” stories. I thought it was good, and put it down again. I think most people will do the same thing with the movie. “Wow, good movie.” Or “Wow, that sucked.” and that will be that. I will say that Dan Brown is a moron, and Christians shouldn’t get worked up about his assertions because no real historian will touch his “research” with a ten foot pole. Case closed. By the way, as a Christian, studying for church leadership, the Harry Potter movies are some of the best.
DragonLady: I think I know what you are talking about now, but I can’t for the life of me remember the name either. I saw it on Global in Canada two semesters ago.
Funny but true, E!
You are probably right. Those poor innocent kids.
I saw film few days ago, nice and trivial. If I only knew last time that was in Paris that under the pyramid is the sarcophagus of Mary Magdalene I would bow to her holiness but well I have promised to my daughter what would drive to Paris before summer holidays so I’ll have my chance anyway, I hope I’ll not meet any albinos over there.
LMAO Boris!!! Exactly! You slay me.
Mel,
Had a comment, but it became waaaaay to long for comments. I’ll blog it.
Short version: I’ve read Dan Brown. Two books, two books, two booksfull.
Were both total wastes of my time. (Yeh, I thought: “He can’t be that bad. I’ll give him another chance.” I was wrongs.) Therefore, The Da Vinci Code isn’t even on my remotely possible reading list. Watch it? Hey! Movies are never as good as the books…
I’m not even gonna comment LOL I have read the book and while it’s just a theory- Oh wait- I said I wasn’t going to comment.
Peace Out & Merry Meet
Hee Hee
Everybody’s doin’ it, doin’ it, doin’ it…
How does Dan Brown even get published? Are editors also becoming an ever more subliterate class?
I haven’t read the book or seen the movie, but not for the reasons the “usual suspects” seem to have. I have read two books by Dan Brown….
I can’t understand all this fuss … they are simply making fools of themselves.
Lets face it: Dan Brown is smart. He’s making lots of money. Even when his “research” is proven a total sham, he’ll laugh at us at the millions we gave him.
That’s exactly right. Speaking of God (if we were) you guys should check out this clip over at The Challenge. Very funny.
DL, is it The Omen?
What is more interesging than the movie is the chance to witness true Liberty in action you may Sheesh! it because YOU do not agree and you have the right to do that too, but
How many beheadings have their been? Riots where people have died? Embassies torched?
Just people in assembly to express their veiws no matter how petty their complaints might seem to others, but peacefully.
That’s Awesome.
