Paul asked me if I fell in, and skye is asking about puppy pics, so I’m guessing that folks are wondering where the hell I am.
Busy
Tired
Wanna crawl under a blanket and stay there for five more days.
I just got finished working six nights in a row. That doesn’t sound so bad, I know. But remember, for me that’s 6 all-nighters in a row. It really does feel like that too, because when I work, I still have things I have to do during the day, so I can’t just come home and sleep all day. I normally get four to six hours a day, but this past week it’s been four or sometimes three.
Yesterday, I had to get up pretty early because it was my daughter Sara’s birthday. Her sister wanted to help celebrate her birthday, so we just decided to go to Conway, which is about 40 miles from here. So, we all loaded up into my mini van. By “we all,” I mean me, Sara, my sister Julie, and my friend of 25 years and most excellent hair stylist Jose. We went to Conway and picked up my daughter Julie (yes, I named my daughter after my sister) and her boyfriend Brandon, then we went and had a nice lunch at Chilis. We then went to Hastings and everyone bought Sara a present while we were there. She already had a good chunk of money from me and her dad, so she bought a few things there too. Then we went back to Julie’s apartment for birthday cake.
By the time I got back home I was pretty tired. I took a short nap then got up and sat around like a zombie for a couple of hours. Then sara wanted to go to work with me because we figured we could see the city fireworks from one of the windows on the third floor of my building, and they were to start at 9:30 so we left a little early than I normally do. When we got there several people from work were outside waiting to see them also, and the security guard told us that the view would actually be better outside because of the trees that block some of the windows. So we parked our tired butts on the steps of an old church right across the street from my building, and then the fireworks started. WOW. I could not believe how great our view was. I also couldn’t believe that all these years I’ve been dragging my ass down to the river with the rest of the city to watch the fireworks, fighting traffic to find a place to park, and fighting traffic just to get out. Really, the view from work was AMAZING. What a great display, too. It started to rain but we were under a tree so we didn’t really get wet, it just cooled us off. It just felt really good to be sitting out there with Sara on her birthday watching the fireworks. I would have loved to have taken pics, but as I’ve said my camera quit working, which is also why I don’t have pics of the puppies, skye. When the show was over, we went inside and I began my 6th worknight. Sara got a little tired by 3 am, so I put it into overdrive and got us out of there by 4.
I came home and crashed for awhile then got up to take my mom to the doc, came home, bought groceries, came home again, just got finished cooking supper, and I’m SO GLAD I don’t have to go to work tonight. I do have to go tomorrow though. BLAHHHH.
Anyway, that’s where I’ve been. Sorry I haven’t read anyone’s blogs lately. I will tomorrow.

Our questions were just our way of saying we missed you
I wouldn’t able to sleep on 3-4 hours of sleep either. I know how I get with only 6
Hope you get some relief soon! Just remember how excited you were when you first got that job
lmao…ummmmm…I wouldn’t be able to live* on 3-4 hours of sleep
Say no more, we worked our midnight shifts seven in a row. I, like you, could never sleep more than 3 or 4 hours even if I would lay back down in the evening - nothing. Zombie is a kind word. Irritable zombie begins the description.
Sorry, Mel. What Skye said.
A Happy belated Birthday to Sara!
Hastings. Gawd, if I could have back the money I spent there in college…
Mel you have to be carefull. I did that for over 11 years. I was working seven days a week (felt like
and was putting in around 18 1/2 a day in.
Point is, it caught up to me, leading to health issues, and having to leave a well paying proffession.
Ever since you’ve started this job, you talk about your life being turned upside down and how burnt out tired you always are.
Is this job really worth it? Or do y ou think things will evenentually get better?
That should be (Felt like 8 )
LOL skye, I can’t sleep on sleep either, ehehe.
Paul, that sounds more like it.
Mac, GEEZ. 18 hour days? That’s insane. And for now, the money is worth it.
DL, Sara says TY!
Did you do the Southwest eggrolls?
Diane, you know I did!
Cant stand the silence. FNFO is always %100 funn.. Follow my link
Is it just me or is mac starting to sound like a spammer?
Mel, are you sure you didn’t fall in?
I’m sure. Just that after I had my 1 day off, I was scheduled for another 6.
Oh, that sucks arse.
LMAO DL! I just came in here to write that very same thing.
